Why launch a YouTube channel?

Great question! Why would I launch a YouTube channel just to share the same information that I’m already sharing over here on the blog?

Video is personal

When you read someone’s resources, you get a feel for their personality a little bit. You can almost hear how they may speak in real life. When you actually hear their voice, you feel even closer to them and more connected. Then when you can see them and hear them, you start to get a really good feel for their personality as a whole. Video is an intimate way to engage an audience.

YouTube is searchable

Did you know YouTube is a search engine? It’s the second largest search engine on the internet, and it’s owned by the largest search engine: google. When you utilize SEO strategies on YouTube, it can open up your content to a whole new audience.

I like being on camera

A few years ago, I would have felt embarrassed to say that. I was shamed for many years for “being the center of attention” so I always thought my gift to easily speak in front of people was something I needed to tame and hide (which is ironic, since my main job is literally to speak in front of h hundreds and thousands of people every single week). Saying “I like being on camera” feels a little narcissistic, but honestly it just comes natural to me. I’m an external processor (meaning I don’t really know what I think or feel until I say it outloud), so speaking comes easily to me and it is easier for me to structure my content when it is shared verbally. This is why sharing my resources in a video format is a great option for someone like me.

It’s a branding move

Video is huge when it comes to advertising online. People see and respond to video much better than they do to long form written content, so in order to build my personal brand, having a video presence is a requirement. Once people begin to recognize me online through strategic advertising, I will have a place to push them to know, like and trust me.

Will you help me?

I so appreciate all the love and support you shower on me over here, and there are a couple ways you can support me as I launch this channel.

  1. Subscribe

Having Subscribers tells YouTube that people value the information I’m putting out there and they will be more willing to share it with new people visiting their platform for similar information

  2. Watch the videos

Watch them all the way through! The longer a viewer watches a video, the more credibility it receives from YouTube, and they will see that it is valuable and be more apt to share it with new viewers.

  3. Like and Comment

Giving that video a thumbs up takes only a second, but it again tells YouTube that the video provided value to the viewers, so they feel more comfortable sharing it. Comments also help me as a content creator to get your feedback. Did you like it? Do you have more questions? What other videos would you like to see? This helps me make better videos in the future.
